ABOUT FRUITFUL HARVESTS
A short history of how Fruitful Harvests Foundation is born:
2019-2021 The heart behind the organization
Having lost her father at a young age and experiencing an impoverished childhood, Jema Zogbo Lackay managed to pursue her dream of studying at a higher education (Wageningen University, The Netherlands). She felt compelled to help other vulnerable women in Liberia and started to organize occasional food distribution projects for the poor. These food distribution events are paired with church services. Providing nourishment for the body, spirit, and soul amidst life challenges.
2022-2023 Moving towards a sustainable organization
Crowdfunding and the occasional selling of ready-made meals in the church have been the ways to fund the events. These methods prove to have a high degree of uncertainty and unsustainability. A vision to make the source of funding more self-sustaining was initiated by Aileen Martinia, the current senior team member of Fruitful Harvests Foundation. Driven by her compassion for the oppressed and afflicted, she joined the foundation in mid-2022. From her vision, a step was taken to acquire a 10- acre farmland with a potential agribusiness in mind. This farmland would ideally be one of the sources of income of the organization and be the training ground for the targeted group of trainees to start their agribusiness.
2024 Fruitful Harvests
The organization, Fruitful Harvests is registered in 2024 in Liberia and operates in both The Netherlands and Liberia. We have received recognition from the Liberian government. With this recognition we are ready to launch our first mid-term agricultural training program for vulnerable women of Bong county, Liberia.
Join us in our journey to create a Liberia where every woman has the opportunity to thrive, where poverty becomes a thing of the past, and where sustainable development leads the way.
Together, we can harvest a fruitful future for all.
